YLSS works with some of Yorkshire's leading musicians.

George Kennaway, formerly sub-principal cellist in the Orchestra of Opera North, is the orchestra's Principal Conductor with wide experience both of conducting and of working with adult pupils and amateur musicians in general. He also provides some of the cello tuition to the orchestra.

Margaret Moseley, who regularly provides violin and viola coaching to the orchestra, is an ex-Opera North player but now concentrates on playing chamber music.

Andrew Watkinson, from Leeds College of Music, also regularly conducts the Orchestra and provides violin/viola coaching.

Other musicians who work with the orchestra include Eileen Spencer (violin), Claire Sadler (double bass) and Judith Burgin (cello) from Opera North, Henry Pankhurst (viola/violin), Stuart Hazelton (viola/violin), Fiona Mayo (cello).
