Stringed instrument websites

The internet has become an international resource in education generally, and, while it can never replace face-to-face contact with a tutor, it does offer amazing interactive content that many do find helpful.   Many sites are not peer reviewed, so it best always to choose those associated with accredited institutions if you can.  While Wikipedia is widely used and is generally very good, there can be rather limited reviewing or refereeing of articles by experts.   So don’t take everything on the internet as being written on tablets of stone!

sheilascorner.com – interesting American site with lots of useful information and even a banjo link!

http://www.fiddlercove.org/todd-ehle-videos – one member of the orchestra got Grade 8 violin using this site.

MyMusicTheory.com  free online music theory lessons and exercises, following  the ABRSM syllabus  for grades one to six.

violinandviola.co.uk – send a violin e-card, find a teacher, download free sheet music and much more…

cello.org – full of resources and forums for cellists.

The Cello Companion (a collection of resources for and articles on playing, teaching and learning the cello).

www.cellostudio.co.uk (Deryn Cullen’s teaching site)

The Strad – the premiere site for stringed instruments and instrument makers
